LIFE PREDATOR project (LIFE21 NAT/IT/PREDATOR) has started!
It’s a project co-financed by the European Union that aims to counteract the spread of the invasive alien species (IAS) Silurus glanis, the Wels catfish, in South European lakes.
In addition to developing and performing a direct containment action of the species in Italy and in Portugal, LIFE Predator aims to increase the awareness and the active participation of anglers, fishermen and citizens regarding the problem of the spread of Silurus glanis out of is natural range and to promote its correct and efficient management by public entities in charge thanks to the full implementation of the European regulations in the field of invasive alien species (EU 1143/2014).
